The right Carv alternative depends on which part of Carv you use. As of September 2026, Carv sells two things: AI-assisted interviews that record, transcribe and write up recruiter calls into your ATS, and voice and chat agents that screen and schedule candidates for volume hiring. For interview notes and write-ups, the closest alternatives are CoRecruit, Metaview and the native options in Bullhorn. For automated screening, you are comparing a different category of product.
This page sorts the alternatives by job, uses only facts published on each vendor's site, and ends with a plan for switching without losing notes. If CoRecruit is already on your list, our CoRecruit alternatives page covers it from the other direction.
What Carv offers, as published
- Positioning: "Agentic AI for Volume Hiring" for staffing agencies and in-house teams, naming staffing, logistics, retail and contact centers (homepage).
- Interview AI: a virtual assistant joins video, audio and in-person interviews and produces a transcript, action points, follow-up questions, a candidate summary and write-ups (interview AI page).
- ATS updates: on its Bullhorn page, Carv describes structured data mapped to Bullhorn fields from video, phone, chat and in-person conversations, with review before saving.
- Conversational agents: voice, SMS, WhatsApp and web chat agents that screen against knockout criteria, shortlist and schedule, in 99 languages, 24/7 (conversational AI page).
- Integrations: 16 ATS systems including Bullhorn, JobAdder, Loxo, Greenhouse and Lever, plus Zoom, Teams, Google Meet and Aircall (integrations page).
- Pricing: not shown on the pricing page, which asks for a demo. An undated Carv blog post mentions a free tier of five meetings and Recruiter Pro from $60 per user per month; confirm with Carv.
Carv's breadth is its strength. A European volume-hiring firm on Carerix or OTYS will find few tools with that combination of ATS coverage, languages and screening agents.
Why teams look at alternatives
- They only use the note-taking. A desk that never uses screening agents may want a product priced and built only for interview notes.
- They want published prices. Budget owners at small agencies often prefer a per-seat price they can see before a demo.
- They are not volume hiring. Carv's current positioning centers on volume roles. Executive, professional and IT contract desks may want a tool built around their kind of call.
- They want no participant in the call. Carv's interview page describes an assistant joining the interview. Some firms want capture with no visible participant.
- They want to keep screening human. Some agencies, and some clients, do not want an AI agent conducting first conversations with candidates.
Alternatives for interview notes and write-ups

CoRecruit
The closest match in scope for agencies. It captures across phone, VoIP, video, WhatsApp and in person without a visible bot, writes submittals and updates the ATS, and includes VoIP calling. Choose it if your desk is phone-heavy and you want one product for calls, notes and write-ups. Think twice if the 12-month minimum term does not suit you, or you need Carerix or OTYS, which we did not check against its list.
Metaview
Its integrations page lists more systems than most, including Bullhorn, JobAdder and Ashby, and a free tier makes a trial easy. Video capture uses a notetaker that joins the call. Choose it if ATS coverage and a published price matter most. Think twice if you need branded candidate documents or volume screening agents.
ATS-native options
If you are on Bullhorn, Amplify Transcribe avoids a second vendor; see AI notetakers for Bullhorn. JobAdder has no native call notetaker, but several partners write into it; see AI notetakers for JobAdder.
Desktop tools without an integration
A desktop app captures the call on your own computer, so nothing joins and phone screens work the same as video. Interview Signal is one; it builds a question guide from the job description during the call and drafts the submittal afterwards, and keeps transcripts on the recruiter's computer. It has no ATS integration, so you paste notes in. That suits small desks and privacy-cautious firms more than volume operations.
If you use Carv for screening agents
Replacing Carv's voice and chat agents is a different evaluation. You are choosing software that conducts part of the conversation, so check these before comparing vendors:
- Knockout logic you can read. Every automated rejection should trace back to a written, job-related criterion.
- A human route. Candidates who cannot or will not talk to an AI agent need another way in, including as a disability accommodation; see ADA accommodations in interviews.
- AI hiring rules. Tools that score or shortlist may fall under rules such as NYC Local Law 144, the Colorado AI Act or the EU AI Act. Ask each vendor what bias audit or documentation they provide.
- Language quality. "Supports 99 languages" and "screens well in Polish" are different claims. Test in the languages your candidates speak.
- Candidate experience data. Ask for drop-off rates by channel from your own pilot, not a case study.
Some agencies split the job: keep automated scheduling and FAQs, and return actual screening conversations to recruiters with a note-taker. That keeps judgment with a person and still removes admin.

Questions to ask Carv before deciding to leave
Sometimes the reason to switch is a setting, a plan or a missing configuration. Ask your Carv contact these first, and write down the answers so the comparison is fair:
- Can we buy the interview AI without the conversational agents, and what does that cost per seat?
- Which capture options exist for our setup, and is there a way to record without an assistant appearing in the call?
- How are phone calls captured on our phone system, and does it need Aircall?
- Which of our ATS fields can be written, and can recruiters review every field update before it saves?
- Can write-up and branded resume templates be changed by our team, or only by Carv?
- Where is our candidate data stored, how long is it kept by default, and how do we delete one candidate's data?
- For screening agents: what documentation do you provide for bias audits and candidate notices in our hiring locations?
If the answers solve the problem, you avoid a migration. If they do not, you have the requirements list for the alternatives.
Switching without losing candidate history
- Check what is already in your ATS. Notes and fields Carv wrote to Bullhorn or JobAdder stay there. Anything held only in Carv does not move by itself.
- Export what you must keep. Ask Carv what export formats exist for transcripts and write-ups, and keep only what your retention policy requires.
- Plan deletion. Once exported, ask Carv to confirm deletion of candidate data and keep the confirmation.
- Rebuild templates first. Recreate your write-up and branded profile formats in the new tool before the cut-over date, so recruiters are not improvising on live candidates.
- Update candidate notices. Invites, career site privacy text and your spoken consent line should name the new tool's capture method; see the consent script.
- Overlap a week, not a month. Longer overlaps double the data to manage and rarely change the decision.
Who should stay with Carv
Stay with Carv if you hire at volume, use both its interview AI and its screening agents, work across languages, or run an ATS such as Carerix, OTYS or RecruitNow that fewer alternatives list. Look at CoRecruit or Metaview if you only need notes, write-ups and ATS updates at a published price, and at a desktop tool if a participant in the call or vendor-hosted transcripts is the sticking point.
Questions people ask
What does Carv do now?
As of September 2026 Carv describes itself as agentic AI for volume hiring. Its site covers AI-assisted interviews that record, transcribe and write up calls, and conversational voice and chat agents that screen and schedule candidates, for staffing, logistics, retail and contact center hiring.
How much does Carv cost?
Carv's pricing page did not show prices when we checked in September 2026; it asks you to request a demo. An undated Carv blog post mentions a free tier of five meetings and a Recruiter Pro plan from $60 per user per month, so ask Carv whether that still applies.
Which ATS systems does Carv integrate with?
Carv's integrations page lists Bullhorn, JobAdder, Loxo, Greenhouse, Lever, Workable, Recruitee, Recruit CRM, Avionté, Avature, Carerix, OTYS, RecruitNow, Ezekia, Jobylon and Tigris, plus Zoom, Teams, Google Meet and Aircall, as of September 2026.
What is the closest alternative to Carv for an agency?
For interview notes, write-ups and ATS updates, CoRecruit is the closest in scope among tools that publish prices, and Metaview has similarly wide ATS coverage. If you mainly use Carv's voice and chat screening agents, compare other conversational AI screening products instead of note-takers.
