The main Metaview alternatives are BrightHire (now part of Zoom), Greenhouse Notetaker and Ashby AI Notetaker for teams already on those systems, HireLogic, CoRecruit for recruitment agencies, general note-takers such as Otter and Fireflies, and bot-free desktop tools. The right one depends on three questions: does a bot need to join the call, how do you run phone screens, and where do the notes need to end up.
Every fact below was checked on the vendor's own site as of September 2026, and each is linked so you can confirm it before you buy. Prices and features change often in this category.
What Metaview does well
It is worth being clear about the baseline before looking elsewhere. Metaview is a strong product, and for many teams switching away is the wrong call.
- Pricing you can read. The Notetaker has a Free plan with 25 calls a month and a Pro plan at $60 per user per month with unlimited calls, plus custom Enterprise pricing (Metaview pricing, as of September 2026).
- Very wide ATS coverage. Its integrations page lists more than 100 ATS and HR systems, from Greenhouse, Ashby and Lever to agency systems such as Bullhorn, JobAdder, Loxo and Crelate.
- More than notes. Metaview describes itself as a recruiting platform with sourcing, application review and screening agents alongside the Notetaker (metaview.ai).
How it captures calls matters for the rest of this page. According to its AI Notes FAQ, Metaview joins Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Zoom calls as a participant when invited or scheduled, and phone calls work by calling the Metaview switchboard.
Why teams look for an alternative
The reasons we hear from recruiters are specific, and each one points to a different replacement:
- The bot in the call. Some candidates ask who the extra participant is, and some client or company meeting policies hold outside bots in the lobby. If this is your reason, look at the bot-free tools.
- Phone screens. If most of your screens happen on a mobile or softphone, a switchboard step on every call adds friction. Look for tools that capture calls on the device you already use.
- Everything already lives in one ATS. Greenhouse and Ashby customers can get a note-taker inside the system they already pay for.
- Agency output. Agencies need a client submittal, not only an interview summary. Tools built for agencies write those.
- Seat cost. At $60 a seat, a ten-person team on Pro pays $600 a month. That is fine if you use the platform and hard to justify if you only want transcripts.

Each alternative, and who it suits
BrightHire
Zoom acquired BrightHire, and Zoom's announcement says the transaction closed in December 2025. On Zoom, BrightHire says its assistant runs inside the Zoom meeting itself, with no bot joining each call; on Google Meet it joins as a participant, and on Teams you add its recorder address to the invite (BrightHire AI interview notes). Prices are not published (BrightHire pricing). Better than Metaview for: Zoom-first companies that want interviews captured without a bot. Less suited to: small teams that want to see a price before a sales call. We cover it in more depth in BrightHire alternatives.
Greenhouse Notetaker
Greenhouse's own note-taker joins Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams interviews automatically and is available on its Core, Plus and Pro tiers, with no public price (Greenhouse Notetaker). Better for: Greenhouse customers who want one fewer vendor and one fewer security review. Less suited to: agencies, or anyone whose interviews are not scheduled through Greenhouse.
Ashby AI Notetaker
Ashby's FAQ confirms its note-taker joins your meetings to record and transcribe, and says each plan comes with 500 interviews to try it at no extra cost. Foundations customers see pricing in the product; Plus and Enterprise pricing is by quote (Ashby AI Notetaker). Better for: Ashby customers, who can test it on real interviews before paying anything. Less suited to: teams not on Ashby.
HireLogic
HireLogic joins Zoom, Teams or Meet when you invite it, listens to phone calls when you conference in its number, and has a companion app for in-person interviews (hirelogic.com). We could not find published pricing. Better for: teams with a mix of video, phone and in-room interviews who are comfortable with a participant joining. Less suited to: teams trying to remove bots from calls.
CoRecruit (formerly Quil)
CoRecruit is the closest match for agencies. Its pricing page describes note-taking with no visible bot, AI-generated submittals in your company's branding, and ATS updates to Bullhorn, Vincere, Loxo, Crelate and 40+ more. Starter is $85 per user per month billed monthly on an annual term or $64 paid annually upfront (1+ seats); Growth is $75 or $54 (10+ seats); Professional is $71 or $50 (25–99 seats); there is a 7-day free trial. Its homepage lists capture from Zoom, Teams, Meet, WhatsApp, cell phone and VoIP. Better than Metaview for: agencies that want submittals and built-in calling in one tool. Less suited to: in-house teams, which CoRecruit says it is not built for.
Otter.ai
Otter is a general note-taker with a recruiting angle. Basic is free with 300 minutes a month and a 30-minute cap per conversation; Pro is $16.99 a month or $8.33 a month billed yearly; Business is $30 a month or $19.99 billed yearly (Otter pricing). Its desktop app records from your Mac or Windows computer with no bot joining the call, and its Recruiting Agent syncs notes with Greenhouse (otter.ai). Better for: hiring managers and solo recruiters who want the cheapest usable transcript. Less suited to: teams that need structured scorecards or submittals. See Otter for recruiting for detail.
Fireflies.ai
Fireflies' pricing page lists recording through its Chrome extension without the Fireflies bot, and its help center describes a desktop app that captures system audio without a bot. The pricing page showed no numbers when we checked; Fireflies' own pricing post dated July 10, 2026 gives Pro at $18 a month ($10 billed yearly), Business at $29 ($19 yearly) and Enterprise at $39, annual only. ATS integrations listed are Greenhouse, Lever and BambooHR (integrations). Better for: companies that already use Fireflies for sales and internal meetings. Less suited to: agencies on Bullhorn or JobAdder, which are not in that list.
Interview Signal
Ours is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that captures audio on the recruiter's own computer, so no bot joins and phone screens work through the computer's audio. It adds a live question guide, scorecards with evidence quotes checked against the transcript, and a client submittal in your template about a minute after the call; transcripts and notes stay on your computer (security details). Free includes 20 minutes, Solo is $49 a month, and Team is $59 a seat, minimum three (pricing). Less suited to: teams that need notes written into an ATS automatically, or a sourcing and screening platform.
How to choose in five questions
- Is a participant joining the call acceptable? If not, remove Greenhouse Notetaker, Ashby, HireLogic and default Fireflies from the list.
- What share of your screens are phone calls? If it is most of them, test the phone workflow first, on a real call, before anything else.
- Where must notes land? Name the exact ATS and the exact field. "Integrates with Bullhorn" can mean a note on the candidate record or a full submittal; ask to see it.
- What do you send after the call? In-house teams need a scorecard; agencies need a submittal. Few tools do both well.
- What does a year cost for your real seat count? Multiply monthly price by seats by twelve, and check minimum seats and annual-only terms.
A trial scorecard you can copy
Most trials fail because each tool gets different interviews. Run the same five real interviews through every shortlisted tool (with candidates told you are using a note-taker) and score each line from 1 to 4.

Multiply each score by its weight and add them up. A tool that scores 4 on accuracy but 1 on phone screens will lose to a tool that scores 3 on both if most of your work is on the phone, which is what the weights are for. Change them to match your desk.
When Metaview is still the right choice
Stay with Metaview, or pick it, if you want sourcing, application review and interview notes from one vendor, if your ATS is on its long integration list and you want notes posted there, and if a participant joining your video calls is not a problem for your candidates. Its free tier also makes it an easy first tool for a small team. Switch when one of the specific reasons above costs you time every week, not because a comparison table says so.

Is there a free alternative to Metaview?
Metaview itself has a free Notetaker plan of 25 calls a month. Otter's free Basic plan gives 300 minutes a month but caps each conversation at 30 minutes, Fireflies has a free plan, and Interview Signal includes 20 free minutes with no card. Check each vendor's pricing page, since limits change.
Which Metaview alternatives work without a bot joining the call?
As of September 2026: CoRecruit, Interview Signal, the Otter and Fireflies desktop apps, and BrightHire inside Zoom all describe capture without a per-call bot. Greenhouse Notetaker, Ashby AI Notetaker and HireLogic join meetings as a participant.
Does Metaview work for staffing agencies?
It can. Metaview's integrations page lists agency systems including Bullhorn, JobAdder, Loxo and Crelate, and phone calls are captured by calling its switchboard. Agencies that want submittals and built-in calling may prefer a tool built for the agency model, such as CoRecruit.
What should I test during a trial?
Run the same five real interviews through each tool: at least one phone screen, one call where you are not the host, and one with poor audio. Then compare how accurate the notes are and how many minutes it takes to get them into your ATS or submittal.
