The closest BrightHire alternatives for in-house teams are Metaview, the note-takers built into Greenhouse and Ashby, HireLogic, and Employ's AI Interview Companion for Lever, Jobvite and JazzHR customers. Lighter, bot-free options include the Otter and Fireflies desktop apps. Which fits depends mostly on your video platform: BrightHire's big advantage is on Zoom, so Teams and Meet companies have the most to gain from comparing.
Facts below come from each vendor's own site as of September 2026, with links. For a wider list that includes agency tools, see Metaview alternatives.
What changed at BrightHire
BrightHire announced on November 13, 2025 that it had agreed to be acquired by Zoom (BrightHire's announcement). Zoom's post on the deal now says the transaction closed in December 2025.
Both companies said the product would stay cross-platform. BrightHire wrote that it would keep running as its own product and brand inside Zoom, with integrations maintained across conferencing, collaboration and ATS platforms. Zoom wrote that customers would keep access on whichever platforms they already use.
So the acquisition on its own is not a reason to leave. It is a good reason to ask your account team specific questions at renewal, which are listed further down.
What BrightHire does well
- Zoom without a bot. BrightHire says its Interview Assistant opens inside Zoom itself, with no bot joining each call (BrightHire AI interview notes). For a Zoom company, that removes the most common candidate complaint about note-takers.
- Deep ATS coverage for in-house systems. Its integrations page names Greenhouse, Ashby, Workday, iCIMS, Rippling, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Gem, Jobvite, Bullhorn, Oracle Taleo, SAP SuccessFactors, BambooHR, Breezy, Comeet, JazzHR, Workable and Fountain, with one-click scorecard completion and highlights playable in the ATS.
- A wider platform. The pricing page lists BrightHire Screen, described as an always-on AI interviewer, alongside plans for recruiting teams, hiring teams and enterprises.
The trade-offs: prices are not published, and the capture method changes by platform. On Google Meet, BrightHire joins as a participant through your calendar; on Microsoft Teams you add its recorder address to the invite or put a tag in the meeting details.
Why in-house teams compare alternatives
- You run on Teams or Meet. The no-bot advantage is Zoom-specific, so on other platforms you are comparing like with like.
- You need a number for the budget. Finance wants a cost per seat before a demo, and some alternatives publish one.
- Your ATS already has a note-taker. If Greenhouse or Ashby includes one, a separate vendor has to earn its place.
- Hiring managers are the main users. A lighter tool with less training may get more use than a full platform.
- Roadmap questions. Some teams want a clear commitment on Teams and Meet support before signing a multi-year renewal.

Three routes, and who each suits
Stay inside your ATS
Greenhouse Notetaker joins Zoom, Meet and Teams interviews automatically and is on Greenhouse's Core, Plus and Pro tiers. Ashby AI Notetaker joins meetings too, and each Ashby plan includes 500 interviews to try it with no expiry. Employ's AI Interview Companion (formerly Pillar) says it works inside Lever and shows Lever, Jobvite and JazzHR; its capture method and pricing are not published.
This route suits teams whose interviews are all scheduled through the ATS and whose security team would rather not review another vendor. It suits companies less well if they use more than one ATS, or if candidates object to a participant joining.
Another dedicated interview intelligence platform
Metaview is the most direct like-for-like replacement: a free tier, a published Pro price, more than 100 integrations on its integrations page, and sourcing and screening agents alongside notes. It joins calls as a participant on every platform. HireLogic joins video calls when invited, listens to phone calls when you conference in its number, and has a companion app for in-person interviews.
This route suits large in-house teams that want interview analytics, coaching and an enterprise contract. If that is you, a lightweight note-taker is probably not the right replacement.
A lighter tool without a bot
Otter and Fireflies both offer desktop apps that capture system audio without a bot. They are inexpensive and familiar, but they are general meeting tools: check how interview notes reach your ATS before you roll them out. Interview Signal is a desktop app built for interviews: a live question guide from the job description, scorecards with evidence quotes checked against the transcript, and onsite panels where questions are split across interviewers and coverage syncs between them without sharing notes. It does not replace an enterprise interview analytics suite.
Work out who actually needs a seat
In-house pricing comparisons go wrong on seat count, not on price per seat. Recruiters interview every day; most hiring managers interview a few times a month. Before comparing quotes, sort your interviewers into three groups:
| Group | Typical pattern | What to ask vendors |
|---|---|---|
| Recruiters and coordinators | Several screens a day | Full seats; unlimited or high minute caps |
| Frequent hiring managers | Weekly loops during an open search | Seats that can move between people as searches open and close |
| Occasional interviewers | One panel a month or less | Whether they need a seat at all to have their interview captured, or can use a free tier |
A worked example, with invented numbers: 6 recruiters and 30 hiring managers at $60 a seat is 36 × $60 = $2,160 a month. If only the 6 recruiters and 8 frequent managers need seats, it is 14 × $60 = $840. The vendor with the lowest list price is not always the cheapest once seats are counted this way.

Does anything appear in the participant list?

A migration checklist
If you do switch, the risk is not the new tool. It is losing interview history and confusing interviewers mid-search. Work through this in order:
- Export before notice. Request an export of recordings, transcripts and scorecards for open requisitions and anything under a legal hold, before you give notice.
- Check your retention schedule. Decide what you actually need to keep. Interview recordings you no longer need are a liability, not an archive.
- Map ATS fields. Confirm where notes land in the ATS for the new tool, and that old notes already in the ATS stay put.
- Update candidate notices. Change the vendor name in interview invites, privacy notices and the consent line interviewers read aloud. Our consent script has wording.
- Run both tools on a handful of requisitions for two weeks. Compare output side by side on the same interviews before switching everyone.
- Brief hiring managers in ten minutes, not an hour. Show them where the notes appear and how to pause. That is all most of them need.
- Switch at a clean boundary. New requisitions go to the new tool; open ones finish on the old one where possible.
When BrightHire is still the right choice
Stay with BrightHire if your company runs interviews on Zoom, your ATS is on its integration list, your hiring managers already use its scorecard completion, and your renewal answers on platform support are satisfactory. A Zoom-native assistant with no bot and deep ATS write-back is hard to match for that setup, and switching costs interviewer attention you may not get back quickly.
Compare seriously if most of your interviews happen on Teams or Meet, if you need a published price, or if your ATS already includes a note-taker you are paying for. For Teams specifically, our guide to recording a Teams interview without a bot covers the built-in options first.
Questions people ask
Did Zoom buy BrightHire?
Yes. Zoom's own announcement says the acquisition closed in December 2025, and BrightHire says it continues to operate as its own product and brand within Zoom.
Does BrightHire still work with Microsoft Teams and Google Meet?
As of September 2026, BrightHire's site describes Teams capture by adding its recorder address to the meeting invite, and Meet capture by joining as a participant through your calendar. BrightHire said at the acquisition that it would keep integrations across conferencing and ATS platforms.
How much does BrightHire cost?
BrightHire does not publish prices. Its pricing page lists plans for recruiting teams, hiring teams and enterprises, and asks you to contact sales.
What is the simplest BrightHire alternative for a Greenhouse or Ashby customer?
The note-taker built into your ATS: Greenhouse Notetaker on Greenhouse's Core, Plus and Pro tiers, or Ashby AI Notetaker, which includes 500 interviews per plan to try. Both join meetings as a participant.
