Metaview vs BrightHire: how the two interview platforms actually differ
On this page
Metaview and BrightHire both record interviews, write structured notes and push them into your ATS. The practical differences are three: how each one gets into the call (BrightHire runs inside Zoom without a bot, while Metaview's Notetaker joins as a participant on every video platform), whether you can see a price (Metaview publishes one, BrightHire does not), and what else you are buying (Metaview is built out toward sourcing and screening agents; BrightHire toward interview planning, an AI interviewer and hiring-team collaboration, now inside Zoom).
Every vendor fact below was checked on Metaview's and BrightHire's own sites as of September 2026 and is linked so you can confirm it. If you are still building a longer shortlist, start with Metaview alternatives or BrightHire alternatives instead; this page is only the two of them.

How each one gets into your interviews
This is the difference candidates notice, so it deserves more than a table row. Work out where your interviews actually happen before you read anything else: pull last month's calendar for three recruiters and two hiring managers and count interviews by platform, plus phone screens.
Metaview: a Notetaker that joins the call
Metaview's AI Notes FAQ describes a Notetaker bot that joins Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Zoom calls, and tells hosts how to admit it when a meeting holds it in the lobby. The same FAQ mentions a status for when a candidate opted out of Metaview joining, so the opt-out is something the product expects. Its overview guide says Metaview joins interviews scheduled through your ATS or Calendly automatically, or when you invite it by email, and that phone calls work whether you use a landline, mobile or computer calling; the FAQ describes phone capture as calling the Metaview switchboard.
What that means in practice: the same method on every video platform, including Webex, which is simple to train. The cost is a visible participant in each call, an admit step when someone else hosts, and an extra dialing step on phone screens.
BrightHire: native on Zoom, a participant elsewhere
BrightHire's interview notes page says its Interview Assistant works inside Zoom with no per-call bot required. On Google Meet it joins as a participant through your calendar. On Microsoft Teams you add [email protected] to the meeting invite, which BrightHire calls the most reliable method, or add #brighthire to the meeting details. Its pricing page lists video, phone and in-person capture in the Recruiters plan, but we did not find a description of how phone capture works.
What that means in practice: on Zoom, BrightHire removes the extra participant entirely, which is the single biggest candidate-experience argument in this category. On Teams, someone has to remember the invite address on every interview, and that habit breaks when a hiring manager creates a meeting from their own calendar.
The platform rule of thumb
- Mostly Zoom: BrightHire's capture is the better experience for candidates.
- Mostly Teams: both add something to the meeting. Test who forgets the BrightHire invite address and how often Metaview's bot waits in a lobby.
- Mostly Meet: both join as participants, so capture is not the deciding factor.
- Any Webex: Metaview lists it; BrightHire's integrations page does not.
- Phone-heavy: ask both to run a real phone screen in the demo, on your phones.
Pricing: a published rate against a quote
Metaview's Notetaker pricing shows three plans as of September 2026: Free at $0 with 25 calls a month and basic transcription, Pro at $60 per user per month with unlimited calls and priority processing, and Enterprise with tailored pricing, dedicated support and enterprise security features. The FAQ notes that Free plan users have restricted access to calls older than 14 days, which matters if hiring managers look back at a screen from three weeks ago.
BrightHire's pricing page names four offerings without prices: BrightHire Screen (an AI interviewer, standalone or with the platform), and three platform plans called Recruiters, Teams and Enterprises. Teams adds collaboration, intake and debrief agents, topic coverage analytics, side-by-side candidate comparisons and SSO. Enterprises adds custom reporting, custom ATS integrations and a REST API.
You cannot compare a list price with no price, but you can turn Metaview's published rate into a ceiling for your BrightHire conversation. The arithmetic, using Pro at $60 per user per month:
| Seats | Metaview Pro per month | Metaview Pro per year |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 5 × $60 = $300 | $3,600 |
| 15 | 15 × $60 = $900 | $10,800 |
| 40 | 40 × $60 = $2,400 | $28,800 |
When a BrightHire quote arrives, divide the annual figure by seats and by twelve to get the same per-seat monthly number, then list what each plan includes that you would actually use. At 40 seats, Metaview's Enterprise tier is also likely to be in play, so ask Metaview for a quote at that size too rather than assuming list price.
ATS integrations and where the notes land
Both tools list the in-house systems most teams use. Metaview's integrations page lists well over 100 ATS and HR systems, including Greenhouse, Workday, iCIMS, Lever, Bullhorn, SmartRecruiters, Jobvite, Oracle Taleo, SAP SuccessFactors and Ashby. BrightHire's integrations page lists 18: Greenhouse, Ashby, Workday, iCIMS, Rippling, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Gem, Jobvite, Bullhorn, Oracle Taleo, SAP SuccessFactors, BambooHR, Breezy, Comeet, JazzHR, Workable and Fountain, plus calendar and scheduling tools Google Calendar, Calendly, GoodTime and Prelude.
If your ATS is on both lists, the logo is not the question. What matters is what the integration does. BrightHire describes auto-drafted scorecard mapping, one-click scorecard completion and interview highlights playable in the ATS. Metaview's overview describes joining interviews scheduled through your ATS automatically. Ask each vendor to show a real candidate record after a test interview and check four things:
- Which record the note lands on: candidate, application or interview.
- Whether the interviewer's scorecard in the ATS is pre-filled, and whether they can edit it before it submits.
- Whether the note appears as the interviewer or as an integration user, if your reporting depends on authorship.
- Whether a hiring manager with no seat in the note-taker can read the notes from the ATS alone.
If your ATS is on Metaview's list but not BrightHire's, that usually settles it before capture or price do.
What you get beyond interview notes
Neither vendor is only a note-taker any more, and the direction each is taking may matter more than today's notes.
Metaview's direction: agents across the funnel
Metaview's homepage lists a sourcing agent, application review, a screening agent, notes and reports, plus an AI coworker it says finds candidates, runs personalized outreach and books screening calls. That suits a talent team that wants fewer point tools and is comfortable letting one vendor touch sourcing and screening as well as interviews.
BrightHire's direction: interview quality and the hiring team
BrightHire's homepage lists interview planning, an AI interviewer, AI interview notes, interview insights and compliance and security. Its Teams and Enterprises plans add intake and debrief agents, topic coverage analytics and side-by-side comparisons. With Zoom's ownership, Zoom's post says hiring teams on Zoom get the interviewer's structured guide alongside the conversation. That suits a company that cares most about consistent interviews across many hiring managers, especially one standardized on Zoom.
Which one suits your team
| Your situation | Leans toward | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Interviews run on Zoom and candidates dislike bots | BrightHire | No per-call bot inside Zoom |
| You need a number before a demo, or want to start free | Metaview | Published Free and Pro plans |
| Some interviews run on Webex | Metaview | Webex supported; not on BrightHire's integrations page |
| Your ATS is not one of BrightHire's 18 | Metaview | Much longer integration list |
| Many hiring managers, uneven interview quality | BrightHire | Interview planning, coverage analytics, debrief and comparison features in higher plans |
| You want sourcing and screening from the same vendor | Metaview | Sourcing, application review and screening agents |
| You want an AI interviewer for early rounds | BrightHire | BrightHire Screen, standalone or with the platform |
| You are a small team on Teams or Meet | Either; test both | Both add a participant, so price and ATS fit decide |
If two rows point in opposite directions, weight the one that affects every interview (platform and ATS) above the one that affects a single workflow (an agent you may or may not adopt).
What to ask each vendor to show you
Generic demos look alike. Send each vendor the list below a week before the call, so the demo is built around your setup rather than their best case. Copy it and fill in the brackets.
Both vendors
- Run a live test interview on [our main platform], hosted by
someone outside your company. Show what the candidate sees.
- Run a phone screen on [our phone setup]. Count the steps.
- Show the note on a real [our ATS] record, and the scorecard
pre-fill, as a hiring manager with no seat would see it.
- Show how an interviewer pauses capture, and how we delete one
candidate's data on request.
- Written price for [N] recruiter seats and [M] hiring managers,
minimum term, and renewal price protection.
Metaview
- What happens when the Notetaker is held in a lobby and nobody
admits it? Do we still get notes?
- What does "restricted access beyond 14 days" mean on Free, and
what happens to those calls if we upgrade later?
- Which agents are included in Pro, and which cost extra?
BrightHire
- On Teams, what happens if the interviewer forgets the recorder
address? Can it be added automatically from our ATS scheduling?
- How does phone and in-person capture work in the Recruiters plan?
- Which Teams and Meet commitments will you put in the order form
now that BrightHire is part of Zoom?
Score the answers the same day, while you remember them, and note which answers came with a live demonstration and which were promises.
If neither fits
Some teams read a head-to-head and realise the constraint is somewhere else. If Greenhouse or Ashby already includes a note-taker, test that first. If you are an agency, tools built for submittals and phone-first desks are covered in AI note-takers for staffing agencies. If the problem is a participant joining calls on Teams or Meet, there are several bot-free options, compared in AI note-takers without a bot.
Interview Signal is one of those: a desktop app that captures audio on the interviewer's computer, so nothing joins Zoom, Teams, Meet or a phone screen, with transcripts kept on that computer and a published Solo plan at $49 a month (pricing). It is not a like-for-like replacement for either platform here: it does not write notes into an ATS automatically, and it has no sourcing agents or AI interviewer. Whichever you choose, candidates still need to be told; the consent guide has wording by state.
Questions people ask
Is Metaview or BrightHire cheaper?
Only Metaview publishes a price: Pro is $60 per user per month and there is a free plan with 25 calls a month, as of September 2026. BrightHire lists its plans without prices, so the only way to compare is to get a written quote for your real seat count and set it against Metaview's published rate.
Which one works without a bot?
BrightHire says its assistant runs inside Zoom with no per-call bot, but joins Google Meet as a participant and uses a recorder address on Microsoft Teams. Metaview's help center describes a Notetaker bot joining Zoom, Teams, Meet and Webex. If you interview on Zoom, BrightHire has the edge on this point; elsewhere, both add something to the call.
Is BrightHire still available now that Zoom owns it?
Yes. Zoom's announcement says the acquisition closed in December 2025 and that BrightHire customers keep access across the platforms they already use. Ask for any platform commitments you depend on in writing at renewal.
Do Metaview and BrightHire work for staffing agencies?
Both list Bullhorn among their ATS integrations. Neither describes client submittals on the pages we checked, and BrightHire's plans are written for in-house recruiting and hiring teams. Agencies should also compare tools built for the agency model; see our guide to AI note-takers for staffing agencies.
